Documents live in this browser's storage and nowhere else. Clear the site data and they are gone, so save the ones you care about.
How the desk works
Reader clears the desk and sets the document on a sheet with a comfortable measure. The rail on the left is built from the headings; click one and the bookmark follows you there. Split puts the source on the left and the rendered page on the right, and the page catches up as you type. Editor is just the source, edge to edge, for when the preview is in the way.
The renderer is a small one written for this page. It builds the page from escaped text only, so a document cannot bring script with it: anything that looks like HTML is printed as code, links get a no-referrer rel, and only web and mail addresses become links.
What stays here
Everything you type is kept in this browser's storage and rendered by JavaScript on this page. Nothing is sent while you write. When you save or share, a copy is kept to power sharing; that is the one thing that leaves the page, and it is the document itself, not who you are. The page also records that a file was opened and by which route, never what was in it.
